Newbattle Surgery

Newbattle Medical Practice is an urban Practice within Midlothian, a Local Authority adjoining Edinburgh’s southern boundary, and framed by the Moorfoot Hills. The majority of Midlothian’s population reside in or around the main towns of Mayfield, Easthouses , Dalkeith, Newtongrange and Gorebridge. with a few in outlying areas.
There are currently circa 17500 patients which continues to grow substantially every month as the practice continues to accept new registrations.

In the past the main industry was coal mining this has now changed to light industrial with much of the population commuting to Edinburgh.
The premise in which the practice is housed is modern and purpose build with good parking facilities and disabled access. The building is shared with the Primary Care Trust and the facilities on the upper floor are occupied by members of this team i.e. Speech Therapist, Health Visitors, Dietician, Midwife, Physiotherapist, Nurse Counsellor and District Nurses.
We are part of the Midlothian Community Health Partnership which is involved in planning for various community initiatives including morbidity register and quality issues.
