Practice Upgrades

Our eConsult Service: Two Months On . . .

Some 2 months after we set up our new eConsult Service, we take a look at how it has been working for our patients and the practice as a whole.

Following feedback from patients regarding access issues to the telephone triage system we launched our new eConsult service. This allows people to request an administrative task or a GP review by the end of the next working day. Demand for the service has been high but we have managed to meet the target of answering all queries within the allotted time.

We are currently dealing with 60-100 requests per day with over 90% of patients satisfied with the service. It is likely that as the service gains more popularity we will need to dedicate more GP and administrative time towards supporting it.  We find it has been particularly helpful for our working population who can find it difficult to wait on the phone in the morning.

If you were unaware of the service or would simply like more information on it please visit our eConsult page here>>

New Website Launched!

We are delighted to announce the launch of our new practice website.

The site has been designed from the ground up by a local company specifically for Newbattle Medical patients and we hope it provides you a much more pleasant viewing experience and trust that you will find it much easier to navigate and find information relevant to your enquiry.

The site also benefits from a responsive design that serves up a bespoke site depending on the device you are browsing from.

We would be delighted to hear your thoughts and would welcome any feedback that you had for future changes and things we could look to implement.

Surgery Pod – Self Service

New Surgery Pod Available!

Our new Surgery Pod  is available for you to use at any time.  Just book a time slot with a receptionist!

You can use it to check your blood pressure or weight and the readings will automatically update your records. We recommend you use it before any appointments with our Healthcare Assistant or our Practice Nurses. It will mean that these measurements will have been done and give you more time to talk with them in your appointment. Of course, you are welcome to use it at any time that suits you, particularly if you need to keep a closer eye on your health for a while.

Other services

The Surgery Pod does even more. Sometimes it may feel difficult to talk to a doctor or a nurse about an issue face-to-face or you may feel anxious about making an appointment. The Surgery Pod offers a wide range of self-help checklists that you can work through at your own pace. You can choose to share your results to your records so that your doctor or nurse can begin to understand some of your concerns if or when you do make an appointment. The Surgery Pod offers help with:

  • Epilepsy Check
  • Contraceptive Pill Check
  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Alcohol Screening
  • Smoking Status
  • Asthma Check
  • Lower Urinary Tract Symptom Check (for men)
  • Come in and give it a go!
